I presume that the lack of a noticeable improvement in FR might depend from GPU: it seems that HD 4000 is somehow equivalent to a NVidia Ge Force GT 330 which is quite 'slow' and not capable of enough power for proper 'fast' rendering.

In my opinion, after some deep testing with Textures and 3dModel, the Texture issue is not as relevant as the 'critical' areas clean-up when working at optimization level, The Optimization phase needs a lot of time, not only because of the number of the objects involved, but rather because you actually have a huge amount of 'critical' areas to inspection, check and clean up. When you work for months with hundreds of tiny objects it may easily happen that you end up with a duplicated object, difficult to perceive by eye only. General Clean-up: sometimes - it was the case of the pedestal - I had 'cut&pasted' the same object times-and-again (screws, for instance, or some Switches). It's evident that - because you will certainly use more modeling functions time-and-again in the future - it would be a waste of time to 'clean up' those vertex (and edges, and faces) during the first developing stages (up to Pre-Release). You usually cannot see those new vertex at 'normal' zoom, they appear as coincident (and, no, they are not 'double vertex'). A close examination (very deep 'zoom in' level) of some 'critical' points of the Blender model often reveals a possible culprit-source for vertex-edges-faces ' proliferation': using beveling and Booleans function, for instance, makes Blender to add vertex by its own.
